Hi! My name is Katie Cameron and I live here in beautiful Halifax, Nova Scotia. I just love cute little things.. Oh you know like fluffy kitties, buttons, ruffles.. and rocks. I sure do like rocks :) I took up this hobby of painting mandala stones in August 2015. Now don't get me wrong, I did not come up with the idea all on my own. I was compelled to start painting stones after seeing this type of art on Instagram and thought I would give it a try. Long story short--I guess you could say I was hooked on the 'spot.' It took more than a few attempts to get the process down, but many trials and many many errors later, I was eventually pleased with my results :) I don't know what it is exactly, but I'm sure dot addiction is a real thing! The process of creating these intricate and colourful dot designs is relaxing and energizing all at once. Around the end of August, 2015 I created the Instagram page @HFXrocks . I wanted to share my rapidly expanding rock collection with the world and connect with other inspiring artists and makers. As well, I had been leaving my painted stones at various places around the city and beyond for people to find and keep if they wished. Now I mark these stone treasures with #HFXrocks and hope those who find them will visit and tag or share a picture or story of where in the world these little stones end up :) I did not start out with the intention of selling my stones, but I was overwhelmed with so much positive feedback that eventually I was persuaded to open up my Etsy shop. (I do still leave my little mandala stone treasures around town for people to find!) *** It was not long after opening shop that I received an offer I could not refuse ! It all sounded too good to be true and I am still shaking my head in disbelief that some one liked my art enough that I be chosen for such a great project. *** To date, I still have a hard time calling myself an "artist" ... Really though, I'm just a girl who works part-time on the nightshift, sorting mail and driving forklift--who likes to paint rocks in her free time. To even be here writing this is awesome, so once again, THANK YOU all very much for taking the time to enjoy my little mandala stones. YOUrock !!
C'mon over and follow my Instagram page @HFXrocks as I continue to post my little life of sticks and stones. Also, Feel free to message me with any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you!
